Personal trainer cost

How much does a personal trainer cost in Toronto?

An honest guide to personal training prices in Toronto: what you get at each price, and how to judge value.

Personal training prices in Toronto, explained

In Toronto, personal training typically ranges from about $60 to $150+ per session, depending on the format, the coach's experience and how much is included. Here is how to judge value, not just price.

The three main formats

  • Big-box gym trainer: often the lowest per-session price, but programs are usually generic and coaches change often.
  • Semi-private coaching (2–4 people): each person on their own program. More coaching per dollar. At OBF, $75–$85 a session depending on plan length.
  • 1:1 private coaching: the most attention and the highest price. At OBF, by application with the founder.

What actually drives value

  • Is your program written for you after an assessment, or generic?
  • Are results measured (body composition, strength), or guessed?
  • Is nutrition coaching included?
  • How experienced is the coach, and who trained them?

How much does personal training cost at OBF Gyms?

Most clients start with the 28-Day Executive Reset: 12 coached semi-private sessions, a personal program, nutrition targets and two InBody scans for $427 (about $36 a session). Ongoing semi-private coaching is $75 to $85 a session depending on commitment, and an InBody scan on its own is $40. Prices are before HST.

Where is OBF Gyms?

235 Queen St E, 2nd Floor, Toronto, in Moss Park near St. Lawrence Market, on the 501 Queen streetcar line. We are open Monday to Friday 6 am to 8 pm and weekends 10 am to 2 pm, by appointment.

What makes OBF different from a regular gym?

You are never left to figure it out alone. Every client gets an assessment, an InBody body composition scan and a program written for them, coached in small groups of up to four. The method is based on the Poliquin system that founder Jonathan Wiseman trained under, and progress is measured with numbers, not guesswork.

My schedule is packed. I don't have time.

Three hours a week. Sessions are 60 minutes, booked by appointment around your work and family commitments, and we don't hand you hours of cardio to do on your own. Most of our clients are juggling the same things you are.

What if I travel or life gets in the way?

Life happens. Your coach gives you a short plan for travel or at-home weeks and nutrition targets that work at restaurants, client dinners and family meals.

Do I need to get in shape first?

No. That's our job. Your program starts where you are today, based on your assessment.

I have old injuries. Can I still do this?

Yes. The structural balance assessment exists for this. We find what's weak or out of balance and train around and through it, safely.

Will I have to follow a strict diet?

No. You'll get simple targets that fit your life, and weekly check-ins to keep you on track. You won't be cooking separate meals from your family, drinking shakes or cutting out entire food groups.

Is it too late for me?

Jon started at 331 lb, with a young family and a business to run. Some of our best results are clients in their 50s and 60s. Strength is the one thing that gets more important as you age.

What if I quit again?

You've tried alone. This time a coach expects you at a set time, three times a week, and checks your numbers. That's the difference.

How does the guarantee work?

Attend your sessions and follow your plan for the 28 days. If your day-28 InBody scan doesn't show measurable progress, you get your money back. We'll walk you through the details on your call.
